What a wonderful summer we had here at Mercer County Mentoirng.  We were truly blessed by the generosity and support of individuals, businesses and foundations in our community and beyond.  It Kicked off with the Kress Auto Center Golf Outing the first week in June, which benefited our Community Connections and Site-Based programs.  The James F. McCandless Charitable Trust made a grant award to our Site-Based programs.  Kennywood once again was a partner of ours, including us in their Tickets For Children’s Charities program.  The All Good Things Thrift Shoppe made a generous gift to our agency.  Schiestle’s Route 19 Auction made a number of monetary gifts to the agency and provided groceries monthly to our families.  And Joy Cone who has been with us since the beginning continued their generous support of our mission.  Joy Cone has made so many things possible for our agency and has truly made a difference in the lives of the children in our community.

On the program side of things our Community Connections matches spent the summer fishing, biking, hiking, cooking out, enjoying Buhl Park, going to the mall, visiting amusement parks and museums, attending Pirate games and swimming. The kids in our Site-Based programming and on our waiting list went to the movies, skating, bowling, played games out doors and went out for ice cream and lunch a couple of times. It was a fun summer for all of us and the mentors and staff got to spend a lot of time with our kids going on adventures and introducing them to new experiences.
